Alan M. Berks

Alan M. Berks is an award-winning playwright who has been a member of the Twin Cities theater community since earning a 2003-2004 Jerome Fellowship from the Playwrights Center of Minneapolis.

His work has been produced in Minneapolis, Chicago, San Francisco, Phoenix, Albuquerque, Indianapolis, and New York.

His solo show Goats was produced by The Production Company in New York and nominated for a 2006 New York Innovative Theater Award. Other recent productions include 3 Parts Dead, written in collaboration with Burning House Group, Almost Exactly Like Us at Gremlin Theater, and How to Cheat, produced by the New Theatre Group at the Minnesota Fringe Festival.

Since 2004, he has been a co-founder and co-director of Thirst Theater (a unique collaboration between Equity Actors and professional writers in Minneapolis).

His work as been called “hilarious, astonishing, and awe-inspiring,” “Smart, sexy, funny, poignant,” “Surprising, delightful, honest and disturbing, all in one punch."
